Sunday Reflection: The Help Line

A few days ago I noticed that I am a bit exasperated with my toddlers naughtiness. Yes, just like other toddler’s, he started to be naughty (in a bit). Last night I was feeling tired and sleepy and as we hit the bed, he still refuses to sleep. He keeps on bubbling, rolling and sometime pulling my hair (and that hurts). I was a little annoyed so I grabbed him pushing him down the bed. And just before he cries, my mind told me to be calm and patient.

Oh well, I may have a little patience with other things but when it comes to raising my children, I am trying to have a plenty of it. Patience creates a compassionate and respectful family environment. While losing our patience result in frustration and then to anger then into resentment. So just before I yell to the tot, I then heard myself and realize that I needed help.

Patience has always been my prayer, and before it gets the better of me, I had to call on the Lord for help. David says in Psalm 18:6 “In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help.”  And there was God helping King David. Perhaps most of us called the Lord for help in our most distress situation, in situations where you think you can’t handle it anymore and only God alone can make a way for you. But Remember that even in lucid ordeals we met in life, God is always there to teach us, to help us.

As I processed my awful conduct, I learned to ask God for help in every step of acquiring that much needed patience. And up until now, it is still a process that needs time, prayers and courage and at the same time allowing Him to rectify my character towards being a good and responsible mom. It is said that the best parents have the patience, so if you think you can’t make it, why not take advantage of your help line. HE is just waiting for you to call.

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Sunday Reflection: HE has Gifted you to Grow!

PhotobucketDid you know that God never created you to be average? He never created us to reach a certain level and then plateau. We should all know that God created us to excel and He wants us to know that there is no limit to how high we can go in life. There is no limit to what we can accomplish, if we only learn to shake off complacency and keep pressing forward to the next level.

We maybe trying to succeed but have hit the walls again and again. Don’t stop dear! Try again. Keep going until you get what you want to achieve. It’s sad that there are many people who grow satisfied with far less than God’s best for their lives. We simply get comfortable with it not knowing that God has something better for us, if we only keep on stretching to the next level. Let us exercise our faith in achieving our goals. Keep going, don’t keep your toned body grow flabby by not exercising. Let us exercise our faith.

Our potential has been put in us by our Creator when we were born. It’s up to us to use it or not, remember it will surely impact our future. Dream Big Dreams! That’s the key to rising higher. Never stop looking to where you want to go. Don’t just focus on where you are today but keep a positive vision and see yourself soaring high, accomplishing your goals and fulfilling your destiny. Remember that God wouldn’t put our dreams in our heart if He didn’t give us everything we need to fulfill it.

Isaiah 58:11 says, The Lord will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.

Tap into God’s gifting and we will certainly thrive! A blessed Sunday Everyone!

Sunday Reflection: Dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus

Photobucket

As we welcome the New Year many of us sets new goals and resolution in life. This has been viral every time New Year comes and everyone wants to be successful with the new goals and resolution. Topping the list of New Year’s resolution is something about our personality or attitude, something that we want to change for the better. Second is something about food, diet is one of them and the third is something about health, and working out is one of them. But sad to say, many of us fail. Perhaps only 2 out of 5 people succeed.

As we set our new goals, have you think of becoming dead to sin this year? Did you ever consider this in one of your many New Year’s resolution? The Bible tells us that we are lovers of ourselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. (2 Timothy 2-4) This year why don’t we try to free ourselves from sin? Why don’t we welcome God in our lives today? It’s not too late yet, He is always there, waiting for us to turn to Him.

Don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?  We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.(Romans 6:3-4) Therefore we could live a life that is sin free. It might be easy to say that but it’s hard to do it alone and without God. Therefore let’s ask God to help us in doing this goal. God wants us to grow and thrive therefore he will not fail us as long as your intentions are genuine.

Let us not let sin reign in our mortal body, so let us count ourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Sunday Reflection: Where is God in Natural Disaster?

With the current tragedy that happened in Cagayan de Oro City, I can’t help but pray for the victims especially for the innocent victim of typhoon Sendong which are the children. I can’t hold on my tears seeing those dead pictures of children being circulated in a social networking site. I don’t have relatives in that area but I have friends online who lives in Cagayan de Oro and I praise God that they are alive. Though some of them lost their possessions but really praise God that no lives were claimed.

In the midst of natural disaster where you see children are separated from their parents, lives being torn and hundred of people dead I think I can’t blame you asking “Where is God?” very sensitive question likewise sensitive to answer.

There are event in the Bible which shows that God was involve in a disaster. The great flood in the time of Noah was sent by God. Perhaps the right question to ask is why does He allow them to happen and that question should be followed by a follow up question what lesson is to be learned.

We are living in a sinful world, and so it is impossible to live in a perfect environment. Natural disaster is a wake up call from God. Perhaps it’s a megaphone from heaven. And certainly there are various lessons to be learned. It shows us that life is uncertain. We may wake up one morning without knowing what will happen that day, such us the devastation that Sendong brought to Cagayan de Oro. The greatest challenge we need to face during a disaster is somehow continue to trust and believe in Him. We need to believe that God can be trusted even when you think he is faraway. And when you doubt His love, run to the cross and you will see Him there, and realize that he really cares for you. Another thing that we need to realize is that time on earth is short and eternity is soo long. Disasters do not increase death, we are destined to die and leave this earth someday. What causes us too much grief is the way they died. At this point, we may grieve with those who grieve and perhaps the best thing that we can do is to alleviate their suffering.

Job is the best example in the Bible. He lost 10 children in a natural disaster; his wife cursed God and died. But what did Job do? He said “The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.” Job showed us that it is possible to worship God even when your in grieve; even if you don’t know the reasons behind and even without explanations. I know it’s hard, I don’t even know if I can do the same if I face that kind of situation, but those persons who worship God under that circumstances are very much blessed!

Sunday Reflection: Purity

Photobucket

Inspired by the preaching of our pastor, today’s reflection is all about Purity. Our scripture today is from Matthew 5:8.

Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God

It may be impossible to achieve purity from a wordly view. What we don’t know is hat, God has planned purity for us and has done everything in His power for us to achieve Purity. To justify this, one of the reasons why Jesus died on the cross is Purification as said in 1John 1:7; But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all[a] sin. It means that if we walk and commune with Jesus, purity is going to start to manifest in us as spending time with Jesus will change us.

Purity works from the heart to outside. It’s not good to just aim to look pure. We should be pure and the more that we spend time with God, the more we are change from the inside. And it goes along, as we are change from the inside, purity becomes evident on the outside.

Sunday Reflection: Forgive and Forget

“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.” Matthew 6:14

Forgiving is allowing another person to be human for faults, mistakes, or misdeeds. It  is letting another know that there is no grudge, hard feelings, or animosity for any wrongdoing. Forgiving is the God like gift of spiritually connecting with others, touching their hearts to calm the fear of rejection, quiet the sense of failure, and lighten the burden of guilt. Forgetting is the God like gift of spiritually touching others’ hearts with the reassurance of a happy and full life with no fear of recrimination, remonstrations, or reminding of past offenses. Forgetting is putting these behind you; they are no longer brought up and no longer remain a barrier to your relationship.

In order to forgive and forget, you need to let go of past hurt and pain, Trust in the goodness of  mankind and  the goodness and mercy of God to take over for you. Let go and let God lead you during a hurtful time and  Believe in God’s infinite justice and wisdom.

There is nothing so bad that cannot be forgiven. Nothing! So Live a peaceful and joyful life, Forgive and you will be forgiven.

Sunday Reflection: Fire in the House

Photobucket

A Blessed Sunday Everyone! Today’s scripture is from Leviticus 6:9

“Command Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the law of the burnt offering: The burnt offering shall be on the hearth upon the altar all night until morning, and the fire of the altar shall be kept burning on it.

In ancient Israel, the priests were instructed to ensure that the fire from the altar of burnt offering where daily sacrifices of animals that such as lamb, bulls, goats, turtledoves or pigeons are being offered in order the fire from the altar to keep burning.  This ritual pleases God reason that He affirms it by His presence in a form of a pillar of fire by night and pillar of cloud by day, symbolizing the continual burning love and passion between God and man.  Thus should the fire of our holy affections, the exercise of our faith and love, of prayer and praise, be without ceasing.

Our Love for Jesus is the greatest fuel to keep our burning relationship with Him. So lets keep that fire burning in our hearts.

Sunday Reflection: Don’t Stop… See you at the Top!

Today’s reflection is from 2 Peter 3:18

but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen. (New King James Version)

Ambition is an eager and sometimes an earnest desire for elevation, honor, power, supremacy or simply the achievement of something.

Many of us are confused about what to do with personal ambition. We are conflicted because we’ve heard the cautionary tales of Christians gone astray with selfish ambition. Dreams and ambitions are gifts from God that we should steward in a responsible manner, and they are to be received not with suspicion but with thanksgiving to God.

As Christians God wants us to work hard, because we’re ultimately working for him, using the gifts that he gave. It would be wrong to let those skills and talents go to waste by just staying in bed all day every day… Rather than retreating from ambition, we should embrace it as God’s gift to us. We have to press on to what God wants us to do, that it shall inspire us to become more and more like Jesus. Every step gives us joyful soul-satisfaction

Pursuing ambition as a Christian must involve a trust in God. While we explore our ambition, we must do so in faithfulness.

Ambition is good, selfish ambition on the other hand, is not good at all. It drives us to achievements meant to gratify our own wants and desires regardless of the needs of others. Selfish ambition drives a man to abandon his calling, his family, and his God in order that he may satisfy his own lusts. Selfish ambition is often satisfied at the expense of others.

As a Christian ambition drives us to learn more about God so that we can serve Him better. Ambition drives us to practice our God-given talents and gifts that we might use them to their fullest extent. Our ambition as Christians should be to preach the gospel to the glory of God. But it doesn’t end there – we should be striving to live a life that backs up the gospel and glorifies God by doing so.

Our dreams and ambitions do matter, rather than dispelling any hint of ambition in our lives, receive it as a gift from God and  nurture it with Godly motivation in place.

Sunday Reflection: When you say nothing at all

Photobucket

This week’s reflection is taken from Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

As it has always been said, it is very difficult to be a Christian and at times we even fail to make our Christianity known to the world. When we make it known, and we should, that we are Christians we must be willing to live the life to allow others to see what Christ like living is. We need to be careful what communications pass through our lips. We need to be careful how we speak. We need to make sure that we are talking the way Jesus would.

Some Christians fail to remember that they are under the microscope. Which means that sometimes Christians are the focus of some people in the church. And If someone could find a Christian doing something wrong that would give them the chance to charge the Church as being immoral which evidently ends up charging Christ since it is his Church.

We need to try and tame our tongues; they most surely can get us in much trouble. If we are going to allow ourselves to say things we should not, we must realize that earthly wisdom is not from above. We must realize that if we speak of things above, as we should, then our speech would have to be pure.

The words of your mouth lead to failure or success. Your life will reflect the words that you say. Speak positive, uplifting words and life will manifest that way. And the next time you start to speak in a way, in which you should not, think about the judgment you will receive for such evil talking.

Therefore feed your soul with the Words of God. Read the bible daily and be a doer of the things that you have read. If you are packed with God’s words and with God’s Love, for sure your will be overflowed with positive words or what comes in your mouth will be more of edification and encouraging words from God.
You are in charge of the words that you speak. So you have to take responsibility of all the words that will come out your mouth. Think first before your speak. Listen more so you will know what to say and how to say it.

Submit and surrender everything to the Lord and allow the Holy Spirit to do God’s will in your life. Draw yourself near to God, and He shall draw near to you..And the more your draw near to Him the more He will reveal himself to you and the more He wants you to be more like Him.

Sunday Reflection: Just Trust

It’s sunday, and its time for my reflection. Today’s scripture reference is from the book of Psalms  chapter 125:1 Those who trust in the LORD Are like Mount Zion, Which cannot be moved, but abides forever.

The life we are now living is full of uncertainties, we often find ourselves frustrated and disappointed because we have trusted ourselves or other people. But there is one thing for sure whatever happens God will never fail us and will never leave us nor forsake us. He is our very present help in time of need. GOD assured us of total success in life if we could only trust in Him through His word.

Right now if you are in a difficult situation and have lost your trust in the Lord, you probably need counseling. If you cannot visit a local church in your area, There are online Christian colleges where many have chosen to get a Christian counseling degree to help people through the trials of life. Im sure they’ll be a great help.
