Yet while many people made New Years Resolutions to help realize this goal in 2017, most of these individuals fell off the health bandwagon by the end of January. Nevertheless, those who are serious about leading healthier lifestyles so they can enjoy life to the fullest should know that they can. To make 2017 your healthiest year ever, start implementing the simple strategies outlined for you below: 1. Focus On Dental Hygiene. One great way to attain greater health is by focusing on dental hygiene. This approach works because it empowers you to ward off the accumulation of bacteria in your teeth, thereby reducing your susceptibility to various unwanted diseases of the mouth. If you're looking for a dentist Brooklyn NY residents can trust, the professionals of Park Slope Dentistry can assist you. 2. Optimize Your Diet. Finding Healthcare Providers Using Online Resources

photo Healthcare-Education-Industry-Banner-1.jpg[caption id="" align="alignleft" width="423"] photo from www.mattdunne.com[/caption] Ensuring the health of you and your unborn baby requires that you secure the services of a qualified obstetrician and gynecologist. When you wonder what providers in your area are currently taking patients and can offer the level of service you want and need, you can go online to the medical facility's website to search for a provider like a midwife, primary care doctor, or OBGYN in Northwest Houston and elsewhere in the metro area. The website is set up to be easy to use and accessible at all times. You can start your provider search at any time during your early pregnancy. Drop Down Menus and More When you first visit the website, you may notice two drop down menus near the top of the page. The menus include the name of providers in the center and also the specialties available for patients. If you know you want an obstetrician and a gynecologist, you can use the drop down menu for the specialties and select the OBGYN option. This menu will then narrow the search so that you can search for doctors who practice in that specialty. If you know the name

Different Types of Therapy Available in Rehab

When you go to a treatment program, like The Palm Beach Institute, you may not know what to expect. There are a lot of things that are unknown. One of those things includes therapy. You have probably heard of therapy, but if you haven’t had any type of treatment, you may not have participated in it firsthand. Therapy can seem invasive and scary at first, but it really isn’t. It is simply a tool used to help you move past your addiction and other problems you may be having. It is something that can help you heal. Here are a few of the types of therapies you can expect to receive at most treatment facilities. Individual Therapy The main type of therapy you will receive is individual therapy. This is done in a one-on-one setting with a therapist or counselor. It is private and confidential. The things that you say in therapy cannot be shared with others outside of treatment, unless it includes intent to harm yourself or others. This is a place you should strive to feel comfortable and open. The more you share and discuss your problems in therapy, the more your therapist will be able to help

Dentistry Tips You Should Follow

Keeping your teeth healthy is an important part of an overall healthy lifestyle. Having healthy teeth can improve health in other areas, and making sure that you do things that keep your teeth and gums in good shape can also help improve your overall health. This is why it is important to pay attention to what your local Drake dentistry experts have to advise. Having a healthy mouth means daily attention to your oral health habits. Brushing Brushing properly is important. Brushing might seem fairly simple, but there are proper ways of doing it. First you want to make sure that you are using a good toothbrush that is not too old. Try to replace your toothbrush or toothbrush head if you are using an electric toothbrush, every couple of months. This will ensure that the bristles are in good condition and that there is not a buildup of bacteria on the brush. Use toothpaste that contains fluoride and try to remember the rule of two. Brush at least two times a day for two minutes each. Flossing Flossing is another important part of your oral health routine. Many people skip this step, but it is probably more important than

Mobile Friendly Care

Mobile medical units are growing increasingly popular with a broad variety of medical professionals due to their increasing viability on the market. Mobile medical units are just what they sound like: trailer-based medical facilities that can be quickly moved from location to location in a city, or even a broader area, to allow for the more rapid taking and treatment of patients. A mobile medical unit can be used to access a particularly convenient area for a large city without establishing a permanent practice, say, for something seasonal, or it can be deployed to an area that is otherwise relatively remote. In researching the mobile medical units from LifelineMobile.com, it's easy to see just how varied they are. There are units available for simple mammogram treatments, as well as more advanced units capable of performing laboratory procedures on blood samples, as well as dental units to provide dental care. Because the cost of maintenance is relatively low, particularly when compared against the needs of a secondary location for a practice, they're a very viable option for those looking to increase their reach to patients without undergoing a complete overhaul of their practice. Mobile medical units are an excellent way to

A Healthy and Juicy Juice Option

If you are starting to lose weight I guess you better be equipped with lots of determination as there will be a great temptation coming your way. It’s Holiday Season, a time for shopping, giving and most of all a time for a feast. I can already imagine those famous delectable and mouth watering delicious but unhealthy dishes during Christmas eve. Sure my appetite will be delighted once again but I feel sorry for hubby who just took another notch on his pursuit of a healthy diet after years of procrastination. And that obliged me to serve healthy food  on Christmas and New Year's Eve. This festive season I guess it's also important to balance everything that you place in your mouth whenever you tuck in for a feast. I for one am getting a few tips from my man who opted to eat healthy this festive season. No sweets, oily and spicy foods and instead of soda, fresh juices are his best option. And recently he has just discovered the health benefits of mangosteen juice and now he is bugging me to fill our fridge with those. Mangosteen used to be one of my favorite fruits and being in

The Gifting Guide for a Fashionista

hair extensionThere’s no doubt that clothes, accessories, and beauty products are the most difficult items to buy for a fashionista. While fashionistas love their clothing, they can be picky about what items occupy precious space in their wardrobe and make the final cut to be worn out in public. It’s easy to just buy gift cards for all your fashionable friends, but gift cards can lack the heart and joy of giving and receiving. If you do want to give a gift card, be discerning about the type and strategic about what it will buy. Some appropriate items to use gift cards to purchase include makeup, hair extensions, eyelash extensions, or spa days. As a rule of thumb, if the item is something that needs to match a skin or hair tone, or is a product it’s best to go for the gift card. That way, the recipient can consult the professionals to find what would be a best fit for her skin, hair, and lifestyle.  Just be sure to include a meaningful card, or another small gift to go along with the gift card – otherwise the recipient might feel as though you didn’t consider her important enough to think

Yummy Strawberies | A New Favorite

strawberryEvery parent would want their kids to be a healthy eater and I am glad that Zoe does. It seems that he’ll grow a fruit lover. Grapes, orange, apple and banana are just a few of his favorites and recently he added strawberry to the list. He's got a bowl of yummy heart-shaped berries fresh from Bagiuo courtesy of his Tita Bhe. Look how he enjoys the sweetness of red, heavenly delicious berries. Thanks a lot Tita Bhe! Strawberry is a member of Rose Family and the only fruit that has seeds on the outside. a good source of vitamin c, folate, potassium and magnessium.  It's a good anti-oxidant and detoxifier and it helps prevent high blood pressure and the growth of cancerous cells. It is said that a cup of strawberries has more vitamin C  than a whole orange. Being rich in folate makes strawberry ideal for pregnant women as it helps prevent birth defects.

Why You Should Quit Drinking

Photobucket[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="362"] photo from slive.com[/caption] If there is one thing I can’t take right now it’s drinking alcoholic beverages. But I must admit, I used to be a social drinker almost a decade ago. It so happen that I woke up one day where my taste buds are telling me he cannot anymore take the awful alcohol taste. That made me quit drinking effortless. According to World Health Organiziation, around 2.5 million people died each year from excessive alcohol consumption. Of which 320 000 are young people between the age of 15 and 29. In the Philippines, alcohol drinking is somehow a part of our culture. You’ll see drunken men and women during parties and you can hear them slurring their words, yelling and you’ll even see them falling to the floors and even throwing up in public. I guess this is what partying is all about and this is also where alcoholic addiction starts. Whether you are a social drinker or occasional drinker, it is important that you take alcohol consumption in moderation if you don’t want to be a slave of alcohol. If you consider quitting that would be a good initiative as drinking is sometimes a

Rest Like a Queen in a Tempurpedic Bed

Home is where my heart is. That is why I was in a whisk to go home yesterday after that tiring event at a friend’s place. I was a bit exhausted as I was not feeling well in the first place. I had migraine before I left and back pain on my lower back strikes me again. In the midst of a physical turmoil, seeing something beautiful as my kids as soon as I get home relieves the pain. So after kissing my tots who were in a deep sleep, I immediately plunge myself into the bed giving my back that much needed rest. With much thought of the bed, how I wish we have a luxe bed from tempurpedic for a more relaxing and comfortable rest. That day was like an ordinary bustling day for me at home, with a toddler and a baby in tow plus house chores waiting to be done. No wonder at the end of the day, I am in a dog-tired state, coping with lower back pain and some muscle and joint strain. It can be terrible sometimes so before I lay my back flat on the bed and transport myself into the dreamland,

Shaving with the Right Razor

Ever wonder how Super Mario look like without his bushy mustache? The scourge of evil turtles with red cap and blue overalls would probably look like a popular good looking teenage boy without his big bushy mustache. I’m sure he would be more than alluring to the super Princess Peach Toadstool just like how enticing my husband is after having his mustache and beard sheared. No wonder he made it a habit to shave as often as possible that’s why apart from a shaving cream he also keeps oil shaving for men in the bathroom. While he had his shaving routine, I must admit that I am also dreaming of hair free, silky legs. It’s intimidating to wear those short shorts which are a fashion trend these days and so I think it’s about time to take a leap into the short pants era. And to start with, choosing the right razor will surely pave my way to smooth, silky and hair free legs. Below are a few tips on how to pick the right razor which I got from my master shaver, my husband. Disposable or not? For a beginner like me perhaps you would opt for disposable razor without worrying

My Health

Photobucketphoto from cbc.ca I always put the health of my kids first, and do whatever I can to make sure that they lead a healthy lifestyle. However, while paying a lot of attention to their wellbeing, I often forgot about looking after myself. Until recently, I ate nothing but junk food; did no exercise and smoked regularly, and after a meeting with a doctor, I realised that my lifestyle was responsible for me being out of shape. While I’ve pledged to eat healthily and start working out, I know quitting smoking is going to be tough. However, there are several ways in which I, and you, can kick the habit: Use things like electronic cigarettes, nicotine patches and nicotine gums. If you want to quit, but still crave the nicotine which helped to make it so addictive, you could use any of those aids to help wean you off cigarettes for good. Think about the impact that smoking could have on your health. Smoking is known to cause breathing problems, stained teeth, coughing fits and, in extreme cases, diseases such as lung cancer. If that doesn’t persuade you to give up, what else will? Try and find something else to

Menstrual Cramps Home Remedy

My day would then be gloomy whenever I have menstrual cramps. My body loses energy and my whole day will be spent in the bed. That was a familiar scenario when I was still single. And now that I am a mom spending the whole day in bed is impossible. So, when menstrual cramps hit me, I count on some home remedies I learned throughout the years of a nasty period. Quite a few of my girlfriends also experienced menstrual cramps or better known to as dysmenorrhea before or during their period. Dysmonorrhea is caused by prostaglandins hormones which trigger uterine contraction during your period. It’s like a throbbing pain down in the lower abdomen and it could be mild to moderate pain and in some cases it could be severe pain. While you may know lots of fantastic facts about your period, there are only few home remedies that can alleviate the pain such as: Hot compress. Applying heat to your abdomen will ease the pain. Use pads or bottle filled with hot water and press it against your abdomen. Pain killers. Oil or cream pain killers like deep heat or omega pain killers. Regular exercise stimulates our muscles
